Dear Reader,
Friday has come early this week!

Or maybe I just couldn't wait to share my Friday Inspiration post…! I've just discovered these sumptuous vintage wedding dresses from a 1961 Vogue fashion shoot by photographer Frank Horvat...

Of course, each of these 1960s wedding dresses in stunning, as you'd expect from a Vogue fashion shoot. But don't you think Horvat's pictures are so beautiful in themselves too? They look so fresh and natural, and bring 1960s Paris to life again.

His work can be seen in museums and galleries all over the world – including his native Paris where most of these beautiful images are set.

Sophie in 1950s Wedding Dress… and Cool Converse Sneakers.

Dear Reader,
Today's fabulous vintage bride is Sophie, who married Jerome in April…

Sophie chose a 1950s wedding dress, in tulle and embroidered cotton – sweet and girlishly pretty.

And in a brilliantly inspired choice, she made it totally her own by pairing it with Converse sneakers. Well, she does live in them…!

And – see for yourself – they give the whole outfit a super-pretty Back to the Future 1950s vibe. So cool!

With her pretty dress, cool shoes and tightly-packed roses, Sophie made all the right choices. In Sophie's words…
"I just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful wedding dress and your help selecting it. The dress fitted perfectly on the day and felt fantastic."
With thanks to David at Married to My Camera for these lovely photos. And thanks to you, lovely reader, for dropping in! Have a lovely weekend and hope to see you next week.

Original 1940s wedding dress for vintage bride Emily.

Dear Reader,
With its delicate Peter Pan collar and pretty lace sleeves, this gorgeous 1940s satin wedding dress was the perfect match for Emily: unusual and elegant at once!
Emily married Pete in South London in April – keeping the day simple and pretty with Spring flowers, bright pompoms, and a posh pie supper.

Their relaxed approach worked beautifully, and Emily wholeheartedly recommends it to anyone planning their wedding…
"My advice would be to not get too worked up about it all. Easier said than done, I know. There is a lot of pressure on couples, and especially women, to make the perfect day and for everything to somehow represent you both as a couple. Not everything has to mean something, you’ll probably make some random decisions because you don’t want to devote your whole life to organising a wedding. The most important thing is that you are marrying the person that you love, and that you’re committed to the marriage ahead."

I'll end on Emily's words…
"A big thank you for all your help in finding and creating such a beautiful wedding dress for me! We had a fantastic day in April, and I got lots of compliments on my stunning and unusual dress.
I'd recommend Heavenly Vintage Brides to anyone looking for a vintage wedding dress."

Thanks to Emily and Pete for sharing their lovely pictures (and thanks too, to photographer Benjamin Mathers). If you'd like to see more, check out Boho–weddings.com

Real Vintage Bride Alexandra, in glamorous 1940s wedding dress.

Dear Reader,
This week's vintage bride is Alexandra, whose wedding to Tim took place in the magnificent and secluded Brinkburn Priory, Northumberland.

Alex chose an original 1940s wedding dress in ivory satin with a glamorous beaded and embellished neckline. She teamed it with an elegant long veil, pearl drop earrings and a froth of scented pastel flowers. And as you can seen, Alex makes a simply stunning bride...

Alex describes the process of finding her perfect vintage wedding dress…
"Choosing the dress was very easy. I wanted something that was classic, modest and original. When I went to see Helena at Heavenly Vintage Brides she was so lovely and gave us all a cup of tea and could tell us so much about every dress she had. It felt so personal and it was just right to go with her advice, rather than a brand/name in a boutique shop."
After the grandeur of the ceremony at the Priory, Alex and Tim chose to keep a simple, intimate feel to the marquee reception...
"We had a marquee venue overlooking the estuary in Alnmouth. In the evening the sea fret came in and it was just breathtaking."

"We are lucky have very kind and talented friends and family. We made our own Save The Date cards. Al's Mum made the cake. Our friend Annahita made our Order of Service. Tim's brother did our disco. Another friend (a goldsmith) made our wedding rings. One of our bridesmaids made chutney for the after dinner cheese. Our friend Abigail provided some of the very excellent "Sheep's Nose" cider that she brews on her farm for the reception. The list goes on and we are very grateful!"
If you'd like to see more of Alex and Tim's wedding, you can find them on Darlingtonweddings.co.uk.
Thanks Alex and Tim for sharing your lovely day. And thanks to Stan Seaton Photography. Pop back, dear reader, for more gorgeous vintage brides next week…
