Inweddingdress Review #14

Hello,

I have a review for inweddingdress.com, I ordered this dress: http://www.inweddingdress.com/style-bc545.htmlMy experience was pretty terrible, for the following reasons:
1) I did not expect the dress to be an exact replica or be made of anything but cheap fabric, but the dress had major manufacturing errors. The biggest issues were a skirt hemline that was 3 inches shorter on one side to the other, and due to the length and nature of the skirt would have required being completely remade locally to fix, and secondly the fact that the flowers appliques were basically wadded up pieces of fabric that looked like stuck on toilet paper. The dress did not look like a knockoff, it looked like a poorly made joke and nothing like the original. I also paid for custom sizing, and it arrived about 2 sizes too large for me (literally was falling off if I did not use the straps, and it is supposed to be a strapless dress).

2) Terrible Customer Service. I immediately emailed "Jenny Foley", the contact on the website, upon receipt of the dress. She basically accused me of lying about the severity of the manufacturing problems and told me that based on their expert opinion, a little ironing would do the trick. I then sent her several dozen photos showing in detail why this was a ridiculous suggestion. She continued to refuse my requests for a return/refund and ignored my emails. I finally got my credit card company involved in contesting the charge, at which point she became responsive and offered a measly $40 to have it repaired locally. The quotes I received from local seamstresses were well over $100 to at minimum repair (or in reality remake) the skirt. After refusing this small amount of money and further pressure from my credit card company, they finally agreed to refund my money, less the $40 in shipping it cost to return to China.

3) Misleading website: All of my fair but truthful reviews on their website have been deleted shortly after going up. I suspect they do this with most negative reviews.

Thanks,
Rebecca C.

Dresstimes Review #2

Hello,

I would like to post to your blog in regards to ordering a 'knockoff' gown from Dress Times (www.dresstimes.com). I did not have a good experience. I have attached photos of the original design and then what I actually received. I sent in my exact measurements and when I received the gown, it did not fit at all. There was visible stiching all along the front pleating of the dress. The torso was far too long and the flowers were so low that you could barely see them. The flowers were also much 'cheaper' looking than the original design; the multi-size pearls and beading were replicated with cheap clear 'crafty' plastic beads. We paid a total of $362. When we asked to return it, they offered $100 for us to try to get it fixed ourselves, or $155 is we returned the gown (but we would have to pay for the return shipping). To say the least, it wasted a lot of valuable time and money. When you're on a budget, every penny counts, and this was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend that anyone take a chance with this company.

Sincerely,
L. H.

I ordered BC178. I waited far too late to order it so I did not ask for custom alterations to be made for fear of it taking longer to receive. Even when you order the basic sizes, they give you the dimensions that they use for sizing-which was very helpful. (As USA "size 2" is a "size 4" in China) I paid for the Super Rush service and it shipped well within the timeframe given.
Overall, I am incredibly happy with my decision. The dress was vacuum sealed in multiple layers of packing material and turned inside out for safety. The dress was very heavy with solid stitches, inner lining, & a wire bodice built in to define waist shape . Of course, I had to have it altered locally since I declined to have the custom alterations done by the company. (Which I planned on doing because their standard sizes did not fit my measurements perfectly.)
The dress was not exactly like the one that I ordered on the site. My advice to everyone is to not have your heart set on the EXACT replica of the dress ordered. There will be some differences but that is a sacrifice that I was willing to make for a $200 wedding dress.
The beadwork on the waistband was not what was displayed on the picture. It looked a little cheap but it certainly was not the focal point of the dress and did not take away from it. The lace-up back made a very long bow in the back, as the ribbon was very long. I am not sure how it was fastened in the photo on the website, I think the model must have had it tucked into the dress maybe. But it did drape down the back. (See the side-view photo of me sitting on the chair.) The dress did not have a dramatic "mermaid" shape at the bottom, but once again, the model may have staged it to look more flowing.
Overall, I have no regrets ordering my dress from Inweddingdress.com. Even though it was not the exact replica, it was still a beautiful, high-quality dress for an amazing price. If I had to do it all over again, I would do it the same way.

Inweddingdress Review #12

I ordered a bridesmaid dress from inweddingdress.com. there was nothing budget about this route- with shipping the dress came to close to $150, but it was an online-ordering option that seemed to work for everyone in the wedding party. I will grant that the packaging was secure and the shipping reasonably speedy- but at over $30 for one dress, it should be! That was where the good things ended.

The "light chiffon dress" described on the website was lined with heavy, shiny, very thick satin- not at all what we were looking for at an August wedding! The A-line of the skirt in the original dress was completely lost in the product delivered- it hung straight down in sad little gathers on the heavy lining. The bodice on the delivered dress also drapes much differently than In the picture, with a much higher, narrower waist band and shorter bodice.

I look quite chunky in this picture, but I am 5'4, 120 lbs, 34D, and a size 4-6 in most dresses.  I actually ordered one size down from what their sizing chart recommended for my measurements, and I was still SWIMMING in the dress when it arrived. This monstrosity managed, as a friend put it, to make me look  "both fat and flat-chested, at the same time. And kind of like you're a little kid playing dress up in mommy's funeral dress." The thickness of the lining material means that the edges of the bodice are extremely bulky, both at the neckline and around the arms, and it gapes at the sides in such a way that, though from the front view I look flat-chested, from the side view things are almost x-rated. Fixing this would be a major, expensive alteration, To add to the absurdity, the chiffon overlayer is significantly longer than the lining, but uneven- as much as six inches longer in the front than in the back. The ties at the waist are attached in such a way that they add extra bulk in the seams at the side, visually widening the dress, another thing that would require serious intervention from a seamstress.

Nothing about this dress is well-done, flattering, or even close to the picture. Making it wearable will require alterations that are more expensive than buying a new, off-the-rack cocktail dress from a department store- so that's what we're going to do. Oh, and since I started writing this review, another bridesmaid has just emailed to let me know that HER dress (ordered to her measurements) is so tight it won't zip, but otherwise as poorly constructed.

Inweddingdress may be a decent solution for brides on a budget looking to save on the outrageous costs of a bridal gown, but it is NOT a good value for bridesmaid dresses. We could have had something much nicer at this price point from any number of established American companies, and not been out crazy shipping costs and extreme alterations. I defintely do not recommend inweddingdress.com for bridesmaid dresses.

inweddingdress Review #11

I was extremely worried about the dress I ordered from inweddingdress.com after reading some awful reviews. I followed others advice and ordered a dress on the plain side. I ordered BC045. The dress does arrive in a small package crumpled up but was fine once I steamed it with an iron. I was extremely impressed with the satin fabric, it didn't look cheap at all. There were several things I was not impressed with.... The sweetheart neckline of the dress was crooked. The left side was higher and stuck out in a funny way so much that when I turned sideways, you could see my bra in plain sight. The corset string looked awful, very chunky and ill made which makes for a very clumpy look once laced up. Although I ordered a somewhat plain dress, my dress did have pleats in it. Some of them looked beautiful and were well sewn but the ones across my mid section didn't lay right causing me to look pregnant from the side. I had to re-stitch some of the pleats because the one little stich they put in didn't hold. The lining of the dress was also slightly longer than the actual dress. I had been fitted at a bridal store and was told I was a size 10 in bridal sizes. The size 10 I ordered from inweddingdress.com was a little too large, an 8 would've fit much better and maybe eliminated the ill looking mid-section pleats.??? To fix the neckline, I folded the top of the neckline down and stitched it. I also added a rhinestone belt that I made. I had a very small destination wedding in Las Vegas so I'm fine with the fact that I ordered a cheap, lower quality dress. Had I had a huge wedding & reception, I would've felt uncomfortable about this dress. The dress beautiful in most pics though, except for side view preggo looking ones. I meant to take close up pics for this review but an unexpected ER visit the day of the wedding kind of made me forget to that.
